Discovering Pettigrew State Park: Examining Phelps Lake's Rain-Fed Ecosystem

Pettigrew State Park is located an hour and half east of Greenville. Phelps Lake (which is located within the park)is unique in geography due to the fact thatit isan entirely rain fed lake.

Water Corps conducts monthly sampling at the lake, collecting data on basic parameters such as temperature, pH, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen. The goal of this project is to detect potential sedimentation issues from nearby farms and compare the results with other lakes that have similar aquatic life and attempt to determine if the acidity in Lake Phelps limits biodiversity.
