Dr. Bell is keeping our waters safe with a new $1.2M ROI grant!

Congratulations to Dr. Natasha Bell, Assistant Professor of Engineering, for being awarded a new UNC System Research Opportunities Initiative (ROI) grant for $1.2M to investigate ecologically-based wastewater treatment technologies. Dr. Bell’s team includes professors from across ECU including Drs. Erin Field (Biology), Eli Hvastkovs (Chemistry), Jonathan Lee (Economics), Randall Etheridge (Engineering), Linda D’Anna (Coastal Studies Institute), and John Hoben (Water Resources Center). Partnerships outside of ECU include the Greenville Utilities Commission, Natrx Inc., and North Carolina State University’s Marine Aquaculture Research Center The new project will not only advance the science of wastewater treatment, but also develop new partnerships and opportunities for economic development in Eastern NC.
